The famous cemetery in Paris, Pere Lachaise, is also the title of my series of photo-lithographs from my 35mm black & white film negatives. The photographs were taken in 1979 and 1986.
The cemetery at that time was not the tourist attraction that it is today. Most tourists, at that time, seemed to be only interested in Jim Morrison’s gravesite.
I was alone most of the day while shooting and practically had the whole cemetery to myself, (except for a hand-full of lurking men, who seemed more pathetic than dangerous). Pere Lachaise has such a stimulating history. I plan to go back and photograph it again.
